Chris Pennington is a Senior Program Manager at CBRE and Global Energy Manager at Iron Mountain, a global business dedicated to storing, protecting and managing, information and assets. He developed and currently leads the Energy and Sustainability program for Iron Mountain’s portfolio of 1,450 facilities in over 50 countries with a total of 88 million square feet. The program is committed to reducing energy usage, procuring energy at the most competitive price and transitioning to 100% renewable power. His work has supported Iron Mountain’s decision to join leading global organizations in decoupling emissions from business growth by making firm public commitments to improve environmental performance. These commitments include RE100 and an approved Science Based Target for Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction. He has accelerated Iron Mountain’s performance against these goals by introducing innovative project funding solutions to improve building efficiency and supported execution of five virtual power purchase agreements. In less than five years the program has reduced energy costs by nearly 20%, reduced emissions over 40% and increased renewable power to 69% globally.
